About the Role
The Senior Building Surveyor will have responsibility for the cost effective and timely delivery of a range of projects and commissions in support of the overall contract services delivered by the Scott Wilson Property Asset Management Team.
Of primary importance is being able to deliver total client satisfaction across a range of activities with minimum supervision. In addition, the Senior Building Surveyor will deliver a diverse range of projects, works packages, feasibility assessments, facilities inspections and specialist technical study reports to an equally wide range of clients through self-performance and occasionally the management of other team staff.
Generally projects and works commissions ranging in value up to £5 million will be undertaken. As well as works projects, the scope also includes the production of technical inspections, assessments, feasibility studies and costing reports; all of which must be presented to a high standard and in a professional style.
About You
This position is for an experienced individual with an ability to manage the delivery of a range of projects of varying size and complexity through all stages from inception to completion with minimum supervision.
You should be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the design, specification, tendering and contract administration of building alterations, refurbishment or upgrade projects and maintenance contracts.
You should know how to inspect buildings/facilities, report defects, construct maintenance plans and produce fully costed forward maintenance registers detailing estimated expenditure over periods of up to twenty-five years.
Clear experience in the creation, conversion, extension, refurbishment, alteration, improvement and maintenance of existing buildings of varying size, use and construction is required.
A should also have working knowledge of the National Building Specification (NBS); Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; the materials and workmanship clauses; the latest revisions to preliminaries in respect of current JCT contract documentation; the preparation and administration of contracts under the JCT, Minor Works, and Intermediate forms or equivalent contract types; and preparing complete tender packages for the same.
In addition, a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the CDM Regulations and a basic understanding of COSHH, the Codes of Practice on Legionnella, Management of Asbestos, and Current Environmental/Sustainability concepts.
Finally, a degree, requisite to membership of a recognised professional institution is required. Candidates with exceptional experience without a degree will also be considered.
