Tips to help maximise responses from your job postings

Location
Recruitment adverts posted to location or postal district receive a higher response rate than adverts with less specific locations.  Always enter a postal district for your advert.

Salary
Jobseekers commonly search by salary details.  Always complete the salary rate and your advert has a much better chance of going faster.

Keywords
Include relevant keywords in the body of your advert so your advert will be thrown up when jobseekers search for those specific words.

Format
Use bullet points, underline important points and use paragraphs to make your advert easy on the eye.

Structure
Make sure that your structure makes for a clear job application.  Understand what you are asking for.  Include:
  • Essential information including full details of the job, including responsibilities and any required skills
  • Clear details of experience required and any qualifications
  • Background on your company. If there is a website that people can visit for more details about your organisation, please give the full address
  • Highlight the benefits attached to the role
  • Outline the application process and procedures for the applicant
  • Contact details (e-mail or phone number) for more information about the role
  • Whether or not you will be contacting unsuccessful applicants
  • Include the closing date for the advert.  A date not more than 2 months ahead is best; otherwise your advert just sinks to the bottom of the pile. We strongly advise against open-ended adverts
  • If you know them, please include interview date and/or proposed start date.  Also if you may appoint before the closing date please clearly state this
